Top inventors in spinal devices
By looking at the patent activity of the top inventors in the spinal device industry, we can abstract a number of interesting trends.
The following are our observations:
The top 4 inventors are
- Ralph, James D.
- Michelson, Gary K. (see previous blog)
- Errico, Thomas J.
- Errico, Joseph
· The top inventors in the spinal device industry all have greater than 5 years of patenting experience.
· These top inventors can be seperated into two groups. One group of inventors was observed to be increasingly more active in the last five years and continues to be highly prolific. This group is exemplified by Ralph and Michelson.
- In the second group the inventors tend to be less prolific in the last 5 years but none the less they remain highly productive filing between 6 to 18 patents either as the sole inventor or as co-inventor within the last 5 years.
In the next posting we will discuss the trend of arthroplasty versus interbody fusion based on the latest patent data..........
